Blogging Happy: The entry into the blogging world!
"Welcome" new friends, old friends and fellow bloggers
to "Maison Designs Home" blog!
I'm so excited to be a part of the blogging world. First, grab a cup of your favorite beverage and get cozy! I want to share so much with you! So, where to start?
What led me to blog is this incessant nagging in my head! I mean, a really LOUD nagging voice in my head telling me that I need to write. I love to write! Also, as I am in my 40's (early 40's, and that's all I'm going to admit this far); I have felt the need to share with everyone all the things I love. I have my favoirte blogs and my favorite bloggers too and they have all have inspired me to venture into this online world. Although I was a bit nervous about what I would share; not too much, not too little; that I decided the only way to really know me is to start a blog about all the things I love. I want to share all my experiences and opinions with each of you here and to just BEE myself! So, here I am and hopefully you find a few tidbits about decorating, design, painting, gardening, and life lessons that are inspiring and valuable. I hope I can inspire you to try new things or different methods and to help add that little bit of Whimsy in your life!
I am always in awe of all you peeps out there who are super talented and creative. It really does boggle the mind on what people can create, doesn't it? I love to create things for my home. I've built furniture, painted furniture, repurposed household items, made curtains, pillows, remodeled homes, layed new flooring, tiled a backsplash, replaced roofing, installed household appliances, built a deck, built a huge playhouse for my kids, designed gardens, designed custom parties for showers, birthdays, and weddings and I can honestly say, "I love it all! Although, loving so much makes it a little hard to decide what I want to be when I grow up! :0)
In my lifetime so far, I have professionally been a teacher, real estate agent, sales person, caterer, designer, business owner, writer, PR assistant, student employment coordinator, painter (walls, furniture and canvas). And Guess What? Yep, I love it ALL!
Well.....maybe I didn't really love all of the real estate or sales part! But my very favorite job EVER? The best job ever... is being a MOM to my two very precious kids! In fact, my life would be pretty worthless without my son and daughter! Emily is 13 and will be starting eigth grade and Gram is 18 and will be starting his Freshman year of college soon! (Lord, help me!) Most of these jobs I mentioned have all revolved around working part time or being flexible enough to picking up kids after school. I have been blessed to have been able to do what I have done.
As a stay at home mom, I learned in the early years how to stretch the almighty dollar, how to create and find something useful for the home. Wether it was painting hand me down furniture or shopping at garage sales, second hand stores, or antique shops; I often found treasures that just needed a little TLC. And now I have made a business out of painting furniture and repurposing household wares. I believe firmly in recycling, repurposing, and DIYing for your household to save money and to be good to the earth but also to give your home that special touch. So, I will be sharing some painting projects and DIY advice that I learned along the way that helped me stay on a budget and still have a home with some charm.

And for now, don't doubt that you can DO IT YOURSELF!!!
