~A Bedroom Update~

Where a Dresser finds a spot to call "Home"

I found this dresser at a garage sale in town and brought it home to refurbish, where it sit in my garage for months. But last week, I showed you the process it took to bring this neglected dresser back to life. I'm not sure at what point in this process that my heart decided to keep it for my own home, but today I am going to show you where this little lady landed and how perfect it fit the room and decor.

This room is my son Gram's room, but since he lives at school, we use it for an extra guest bedroom. In the process of painting my whole house last fall, this room was one that got a major face lift. We painted the wooden bed and desk to match in a "Black Fox" by Sherwin Williams. This paint color is a dark brownish gray that works well with a lot of other colors. It is the same color I painted the dresser, even before I knew I would keep it.

We then painted the walls with "Amazing Gray" by Sherwin Williams but painted the accent wall a blue color to coordinate the bedding and other decor. I love the gray and blue combination color palette and brought in some rich wood and metal accents to give it that industrial feel.

We found the picture behind the bed at a home goods store but my husband made a wooden frame around it to give it texture and character.

The room is small but cozy and I love the amount of afternoon light from the long window. This wall is asymmetrical with only one window in the room but adding the picture and then some metal containers on the opposite wall helps to balance it all out. This bed is a monster captain's bed that was built as a bunk bed for my son when he was five. We ditched the top bunk several years ago when my six foot 3 son outgrew it! :)

The octopus artwork on the wall was something I painted a few years ago on an old cabinet door.

All in all, I love how this room update turned out. I have been slowly adding touches of blue throughout my house over the last several months and I've decided that it is my second favorite color; next to gray of course! LOL! :)

This week we are all on Spring Break and I am looking forward to spending the time with my family. We are also headed to Hot Springs, Arkansas to do some re-con on a place to host a rehearsal dinner for my son and daughter in law's wedding. I can't wait! I predict lots of yummy food and relaxing in my near future!

Until next time.....

I hope your days are filled with light, love and laughter!

Blessings!!!

Leasa
