I get so excited for Fall weather and then it seems like it's just not long enough, is it? This week, we had temperatures in the low 20's at night and it really felt like winter already. As we near Thanksgiving week and a lot of us already have our Christmas decorations up or at least, if you're like me, a plan for the upcoming season. I'm not a fan of winter weather, and if you follow along with me here on the blog, you will have already known that cause I complain about it every year at this same time! Then when it comes time to put up the Christmas decorations and I accept that it's going to be cold for awhile, I get over it and fall whole heartedly into the spirited Christmas season. For now though, I wanted to share the Fall decorations that we have up in our dining room for Thanksgiving!
I've had my fall up for many weeks now but I just haven't been on here in blog land for several months. (You may have noticed that!) I've been thinking for a while how I was going to explain my absence from the blog, but all I can really say is that life got really busy about March this year and never really slowed down until now! My son and (now) daughter in law both graduated from university on May 12th and then the very next weekend, they got married!
We spent most of March, April and May, knee deep in wedding preparations. Weddings are time consuming people! Both my son and daughter were great planners and I helped with the decorations, of course ;)! We did a great deal of DIY decorations and the theme was Rustic Romantic! I would love to share more of the wedding decorations but sadly, I just didn't get a lot of great photos, like I had planned. I was running around like a crazy person and then later, I was sad that I was just too busy to stop and take really great pics of the decor. They did have an amazing photographer that got beautiful pics of the wedding couple and for that I am so grateful!
After the wedding, and a few weeks of rest, we were into dance competition season for my daughter and spent most of June and July with her traveling. I honestly, at this point was pretty exhausted and I decided to take off a few more months, as I also helped my son and daughter in law buy their first house in July. When August approached, my daughter Emily started her Senior year, and if you've had kids at this age, the fall semester can be pretty insane with college visits, applications and scholarship deadlines. I'm just now catching my breath and feel like finally things are starting to settle down enough for me to get back to my job of writing this blog each week. All that to say, I'm baaaacckkkk!
I kept my fall decorating pretty simple this year! I had some gray chargers that I spray painted aged copper from Rust-Oleum. I love how they turned out! Repurposing decor is one of my favorite things to do! Frugal makes me happy and I always feel so clever, taking something used and turning it into new again!
I made these cute little "gather" tags on my computer and printed them out and cut them to fit as a napkin tag! (Yeah, I think napkin tags are my new thang!) I plan to make some for Christmas too! Next, I used some faux greenery to accent the charger plates.
I topped off the place setting with these cute white pumpkins and put the wooden wreath napkin rings underneath them for texture.
I had this glass vase with a copper handle in my kitchen and moved it to the center piece for white roses and silver dollar eucalyptus. I like the simple charm of the whites with copper accents and greenery.
I found this grey wooden sign that reads, "Give Thanks" at Home Goods. I feel like it's a good reminder to be thankful everyday and I might just leave it up somewhere all year long! I reused some of my white pumpkins this year and....voila, that's our Fall dining room!
One of the most important additions to this room, were these fabulous gray dining chairs that I bought from Wayfair! Oh my goodness, I love these chairs! The wood legs on these chairs matched everything so well in my dining room and living room that it ties it all together.
I kept my DIY upholstered white arm chairs at the ends because I love them, even though it would probably look better to have all matching chairs. I've decided I will keep them because they match the table but if I change the table, I will get two more gray chairs at that time. I've got big ideas to build a farmhouse table but we will see how ambitious I am! I built a wooden headboard for my son and daughter in laws guest bed this summer so now I'm pretty sure I can build a table! ;)
And it wouldn't be a proper Thanksgiving post without a few of our very own pup pup, Chewy! Here he is this fall posing at the front door! He is such a sweet pup!
As Thanksgiving approaches, I am so very thankful for my family and friends! You are the best of the best and I love you! I am thankful for YOU, who support me here on this blog, who read every post and who comment and share parts of their life with me! You have no idea just how much your support means to me! Thanks for being a part of my world! I hope I can bring you a few laughs, share some decor tips and inspiration and bring you some joy in your day!
Many many blessings to you and your families!
Until next time....
